Charlotte Simmons (she/her/hers) works with many issues and also looks forward to continuing her work with LGBTQIA+ clients. She emphasizes the client-counselor relationship and encourages her clients to provide her with honest feedback.

Charlottes says: "During these stressful times it is easy to feel that we are not in control. Together we will work through fears and identify your guiding values to uncover or revive your authenticity, self-acceptance, and inner strength.

I will listen and explore alongside you as we consider where you are and the roadblocks you are experiencing. We will use your values to help guide your internal dialogue and future path. While you may be concerned that the process can feel uncomfortable, I work to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable expressing yourself."

Charlotte’s style of therapy is informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Charlotte specializes in a number of issues including:

  • Anxiety and Stress

  • Depression

  • Adjustments, transitions and other life stressors

  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Sexual Identity issues (LGBTQIA+)

  • Peer Relationships

  • Relationship Issues

  • School Issues

  • Life Transitions

Professional Background
Charlotte currently provides therapy at Across Counseling. She is completing her final year of her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University.

She previously served as a mentor for “at-risk” youth and supervised visits between non-residential parents and their children. Those experiences contributed to Charlotte’s decision to pursue a career as a counselor and her interest in helping clients who have experienced trauma.

Her counseling experience also includes co-facilitating adolescent DBT skills groups.
